Earthship Visit: Vista Grande High School

We got a chance to give the new Earthship Education Facility a little trial run this morning as part of a 3 hour scheduled tour for Vista Grande High School, a local Taos charter school.  I set up a temporary screen (read white sheet) in what will be the screening room of the new Earthship Education Facility and showed some slides.  Sean and Hillary took the 60 kids through the vintange Visitor Center, around the EVE project, through the Studio rental, a one bedroom Global Earthship, the Corner Cottage Earthship, the Euro Earthship and the Phoenix.  The kids got to experience passive solar/thermal mass in action because it was a frigid winter morning and the buildings were toasty warm inside.  They took pictures and notes and learned about our solar and water systems.  They were impressed with the food growing in our interior planters.  I will let you know when we get feedback from the group.  A big tour for a big group!

Hello, I'm Sissi, from Corsica (a little french island in the mediterraneen sea). I do like earthship concept and as I'm looking to build my own house, I want to take some ideas like using the sun power. I would like to know where the french earthship has made to buy battery, etc... because I found no one to sell me that ; I must do with the french Electricity companie because they have "monopole" but I don't whant it. I hope you will understand my bad english and can send me an answer.

Your blog is incredible! I'm planning to do an earthship build in Guatemala starting mid-November. It is my first earthship and I couldn't be more excited. I'd love to volunteer and build around the globe for an extended period of time and it seems that you have experience doing just that!

If you see this comment and could share some advice, I'd really like to get in contact with you!

Thanks

I’m an American internet entrepreneur traveling through Europe for the next several months. I’d like to spend some time in the UK (or elsewhere if applicable) learning basic earthbuilding techniques like pressed earth, cob, earthbag, strawbale, etc. I can offer my help as a volunteer, a business consultant, or pay for training if need be. I want the full experience of participating in construction and learning as much as possible in a short amount of time. I plan to use some of the techniques I learn on my land in southern Ecuador where the climate is perfect, materials are abundant, and labor is very cheap. Can any help me find the right place to accomplish my goals?
